At the Tom Harris Charity Classic on June 19, the Tom Harris Community Foundation announced a landmark $750,000 commitment toward the completion of the Tom Harris Regional Food Centre. This transformational gift also launches a dollar-for-dollar matching campaign, creating the opportunity to raise a total of $1.5 million for Phase Two of the project.

Tom Harris was a true pillar of the Nanaimo community and an integral part of Nanaimo Foundation’s history, serving as a dedicated Board member whose generosity and community leadership shaped our organization. His legacy continues to inspire, and it is wonderful to see that spirit carried forward through the Harris family and this remarkable commitment.
Once complete, the Tom Harris Regional Food Centre will significantly expand food recovery and storage capacity, support Free Food Markets, strengthen volunteer operations, and enhance community programs serving people across Vancouver Island and coastal British Columbia.
